Anyone for Tennis

Wednesday 21st Sept, 2022

As I prepare for my next jaunt leaving these shores I thought I would update you all on what I have been doing since my return nearly two weeks ago!

My first port of call was the dentist - a necessary evil - but at least I got a clean bill of health which was good news.

After seeing various friends over the weekend it was time for the Davis Cup (The World Cup of Tennis) at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow. I was lucky enough to be selected as a Welcome Ambassador. This role involves greeting spectators on the way into the stadium, scanning tickets, providing support in the actual arena and more!

As ever, a great bunch of people! It gave me the chance to catch up with some old friends and make some new ones, and to see some tennis too.

Sadly GB did not make it through to the finals in Malaga in November.

I also volunteered at Bloody Scotland, the International Crime Writing Festival based in Stirling - where it was my pleasure to "marshal" the Scotland v England Football Match as well as the more usual author events in the Albert Halls. Always a fun weekend -hopefully I will be able to attend again next year. (Scotland won the footie!)

A new bag has been ordered - almost time to pack it and head for the sun again.....
